Thank you for visiting, and allow me to personally welcome you to FreeHomeBizReview.com. My desire to create this site began to grow after studying and learing about the the business “cycle” that an ever-increasing number of home business owners decide to follow– the home based business of network marketing, or MLM.
My interest in network marketing dates back quite a few years; being self-employed for as long as I have can result in being pitched on an incredible number of “opportunities” that come into fruition. As I went online to research these opportunities, the most common stat regarding MLM dealt with the failure rate of at least 90% when it came to network marketers; some MLM companies even post on THEIR OWN income disclosures that 70% of all reps never make any money. One income disclosure that made a huge impression on me claimed that the goal of network marketing is to offer a lifetime residual income based on efforts made today, and this was followed by the admission that “to date, no company has been able to keep that promise.” Wow– pretty sobering stuff for anyone hoping to get rich!!
I have to confess– I became very curious about this; why do so many fail? The overhead is relatively low, there’s usually no employees or payroll to be concerned with, and although there are plenty of scams out there, the products offered by some network marketing companies can be quite beneficial.
This led to a period of time in which I started attending random network marketing “opportunity meetings” to get an idea of what is seperating the few that make money from the multitudes that do not. As I looked into this, it struck me that MLM companies often do a terrific job selling the opportunity, but also do a horrible job training others to do the same. Often times reps are fed sales “strategies” like “Anyone can do this,” “You must not be working hard enough,” and my personal all-time favorite, “THIS PRODUCT SELLS ITSELF.” One company’s website has a quote on its homepage stating that failing at their business represents “brain damage.” Oddly enough, that same company publicly admits that 90% of its reps never make any real profit!! Go figure.
